With Christmas on the horizon, inevitably we start to realize that a new year will be here soon. Next week our leadership meets to set the ICA annual priorities for 2022. Please be sure to speak with your District representatives or call the office if you have something you would like to be considered. As always, your voice matters and it is important to continue to share- our membership dictates the direction the association takes.

Senate clears Feb. 18 stopgap funding bill, averts shutdown

The Senate cleared a temporary spending bill Thursday that would keep the lights on at federal agencies through Feb. 18, buying 11 more weeks to try to resolve partisan disputes over funding levels and policy riders that have stalled progress on fiscal 2022 appropriations.

Wyoming approves revised grizzly agreement

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission approved a revised tri-state Memorandum of Agreement regarding the management and allocation of discretionary mortality of grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. It aims to address some of the issues raised by the court when the bears were returned to the ESA in 2018.

Beef Checkoff Dollars Give Holidays a Beefy Boost

This season beef is basking in the spotlight on television and online with the ever-popular Hallmark channel. The Idaho Beef Council (IBC) supports promotional activities led by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s (NCBA), which this year includes a robust holiday campaign that kicked off on November 7^th and that runs through the end of December. A key element of this campaign includes holiday messaging reaching consumers through Cable TV during the Hallmark premiere movie A Christmas Treasure. It also included sponsorship of the premiere of Christmas at Castle Hart on November 27^th over Thanksgiving weekend. This campaign will deliver more than 125 airings during the holiday season that will reach over ninety million consumers.

In addition, the campaign will deliver online banner ads across the Hallmark Channel website, the Checklist App, branded social media posts, and banner ads in the Hallmark newsletter. By leveraging a range of platforms, consumers will encounter beef messaging throughout critical holiday moments and find inspiration and cooking resources to make beef a delicious part of their holiday celebrations.
