Our annual summer meeting in Pocatello is in the books. We thank all of those that were able to attend and give input to help us as we work through the times ahead. One of the takeaways from our sessions related to policy and the future of Idaho is that although some of the topics may remain the same, agriculture has to find a common ground on items that keep us in business in order to make our challenges an easier hurdle to clear. Idaho continues to change, and we need to continue to drive the bus on any issue that is related to or could influence our industry. That challenge starts with each and every one of us. United we stand and divided we fall! And as we have stated many times before, we don't have to agree on %100 of the issues, but we need to engage and be involved. June is speeding past, and 1.6" of rain in a 24hr stint here in Wilder, Idaho makes it hard to believe it's the middle of the month. --Cameron Mulrony Executive Vice President |

Join SEC GHG Reporting Rule Comments The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is trying to expand its authority to family farms, ranches, and small businesses. The SEC is a Wall Street regulator. It is responsible for ensuring that large publicly traded companies and major investors play by the rules. Agriculture falls far outside the agency’s jurisdiction. The greenhouse gas emissions reporting rule mandates GHG emissions reporting for all publicly traded companies and includes Scope 1 (direct), Scope 2 (electricity and energy generation), and Scope 3 (supply chain) emissions. This new requirement means that all publicly traded companies that sell beef would be required to disclose emissions data from the cattle production supply chain. Judge sides with Oregon Sheep Rancher, Against Western Watersheds in Grazing CaseA judge has ruled that sheep grazing can continue in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest in north-central Washington while the U.S. Forest Service studies the impact on bighorn sheep. U.S. District Judge Thomas O. Rice in Spokane dismissed a lawsuit by WildEarth Guardians and Western Watersheds Project claiming virus-carrying domestic sheep menace bighorn sheep. The lawsuit sought to halt grazing on four allotments by S. Martinez Livestock until the Forest Service did an environmental review. The Forest Service plans finishing the review by May 2025. Idaho Beef Council Launches Digital Retail Campaign Promoting Local Beef To Consumers |
| On May 23rd, the Idaho Beef Council launched a digital retail campaign aimed at educating Idaho Albertsons and WinCo shoppers about local beef availability. Idaho is home to over 8,000 ranching families who work hard year-round to produce high-quality, delicious beef - yet consumers, especially those new to the state, are largely unaware of where they can go to purchase local beef. |
Targeted at shoppers who have purchased beef in the last six months, the campaign reaches consumers with digital ads on their cell phones during their “pre-shopping/planning” phase, and, using location technology, when they walk into their favorite Idaho Albertsons or WinCo store. Each ad features local beef messaging, an inspirational beef recipe, or mentions Idaho Beef Month (July only). |
| |
| By targeting beef shoppers in the right place, at the right time, and with the right messaging, we will ultimately drive additional beef sales and increase consumer awareness of local beef options. The campaign will run through the end of August and is estimated to achieve over 5 million impressions throughout its duration. Results from the campaign will be available in late September. |
